My week in comments

My kids are close in age, I get it. I have a lot of them, I get it. Sometimes peoples comments make me laugh (or drop some not-so-nice words).

Monday night at the pool - I have a 5mth old baby so I must have shade at the pool, it's over 100 degrees here and the sun will literally burn you skin in seconds.  I see an open umbrella by the lazy river and hurry the kids over to claim it, they are hard to come by believe me.  Next to us are "boyfriends" (being nice here) and I can see the looks on their faces - there is no way this lady is gonna bring all those kids right next to us as we enjoy our quiet pool time.  You betchya I am!  I get everyone ready and all of our junk stuff set up, get sweet pea out of her carseat and into her floaty and we all get in the pool, Fin loudly declares "Mommy I have to go poopie".  Ok, everyone out of the pool and into the bathroom (she has to go every-single-time we are at the pool, no kidding).  Business taken care of and back into the pool, sweet pea is making noise in her floaty and the kids are fighting about who is gonna get to swim to me next.  Boyfriends decide it's time to go for a swim and get away from all our craziness, heck I would too.  Upon passing they say "wow you really have your hands full huh" to which I respond "you can have a few if you want" "no thanks" they reply.

Tuesday morning at Costco - get all four kids out of the car, make the three big kids hold on to the rear bumper while I get sweet pea into the Ergo carrier.  Make everyone hold hands and head into the store, stop at door to show our card which O is holding in his pocket.  Lady behind me is talking to her husband "that lady must really like kids, she has so many and they're so close in age, there's a baby too".   I wanted to respond "I'm just really fertile" but decided against it, we all got situated in the cart and headed in to do our shopping.

I honestly don't feel like our family is that big, I mean 6 kids would be a big family to me.  I guess by now a days standards four kids is a lot but I'd have more if they weren't so darn expensive.  Who wouldn't want a few more like this running around??

It's my turn

It all starts off innocently enough, sharing a playmat.

whatcha doing brother?

can I have a turn?

please?

The kids have recently gotten into playing games on my ipod, O-dog especially likes a flying game and angry birds rio (something like that).  I'm really not into them playing video games per say but these games seem to be ok and many of them are educational.  They all fight over the one ipod we own and they all have specific games they like to play on it. I'd love to get an ipad at some point but haven't looked into it yet, plus it would have to come with an indestructible cover.  By the time we get one sweet pea will be in on the action too.

Growing progress

Look what we have

From left to right:  tomatoes, cucumbers, marigolds (natural pest control), sunflowers and in back we have basil and fennel.

So far we have tons of cucumbers, they're actually slowly taking over the garden, those buggers put their vines out everywhere.  I have cut a bunch of sunflowers to put in the house and there are a lot more about to bloom.  The tomatoes are still growing and we've enjoyed the basil in Kev's homemade sauce (the best!).  For lunch today the kids and I enjoyed fresh cucumber sandwiches to which O-dog insisted we thank him for growing such amazing food (I haven't seen him doing that much to the garden to keep it growing but we thanked him anyway).

Sports Camp

O-dog had sports camp this week, he had a blast and learned a few new sports.  They played soccer, basketball flag football and t-ball along with freeze tag and a lot of running.  He had a great time and gets to go again in July for make up days, it rained for the first time in MONTHS here and they missed wednesday.  Good thing it was in the morning because it's well over 100 here in the afternoon, the heat didn't bother him at all though.

Five months

I am five months old already and act like I'm 2yo.  I grab anything in site including anything mommy is trying to eat.  I especially love my brother and if he is not paying attention to me at any given time I yell until he notices me.  I love my jumparoo and can now roll although I don't really like to spend too much time on my tummy.  I am a pool bum just like my brother and sisters, we are in texas after all.  I hardly ever smile for the camera and wonder why my mommy always has it in my face but when she puts it down I am all smiles.  Oh and I have the most amazing blue eyes that pictures just don't do any justice.

Mommy can I get an iphone?

I have no idea where peanut gets her phone obsession, I hate the phone with a passion and am not very good with technology in general.  She can see someone with an iphone a mile away and slowly gravitate toward them to see what they're doing.  She can navigate a phone like nobody's business and often calls people in my phonebook (I bet they hear some funny messages).  Of course when you're using mommy's your phone you must have on a million bracelets, your pocketbook and your sidekick - baby.
