While the cat is away

When O is at school on mon-wed the girls are free to do whatever they want, they are in heaven.  They play really well together and like the fact that nobody is bossing them around (who might that be).  They can touch any toys they want and basically just have a fun time (not that we don't like brother around).  This is snack break before nap time last week.  And I don't sit them that close together that is how they get up onto the couch, don't mind the static-y hair..

TX here we come

We got our new assignment last night and we will be moving to San Antonio, TX.  We are very excited to get to explore a new area and since we are kinda familiar with it already it will be a little easier for us.  Well as easy as possible with 3 little kids.  Now we must begin the housing search which is both my most and least favorite part of moving.  The options in the area seem very good and who knows we may even buy this time.

I have been really slacking on taking photos of the kids, we have been pretty busy and I always forget my camera.  As soon as the weather gets better I will do a much better job, I promise.

On a funny note we were outside playing with the kids across the street the other day, they are pretty religious and homeschooled.  O announces he's going in the garage to get something and come running out with a huge cardboard box of chalk and yells "I've got the beer for everyone"  I think their mom almost died and I wanted to die laughing, just because it was so unexpected.  I have no idea where he got the idea or why he was thinking of beer but the box did look like a 6 pack of beer.  They played together again yesterday so they were not too scared off, thank God.

Valentines Day

We had a great Valentines Day, well week really since O had his school party on Tuesday.  We made these cookies for his party and he got to hand out some really cool dinosaur valentines too.

We also made these chocolate covered strawberries out of play dough.

But the best part was my ALL TIME FAVORITE chocolate cake, made from scratch by Kev and O.  Having Kev make a cake all by himself from scratch is no small feat, I've never even made this cake myself.  He usually makes it for me once a year and that's about all the calories I really need since I eat practically the whole thing myself.  It is the most amazingly delicious cake ever!!!

Are we really in VA??

We are getting yet another snow storm here in VA.  After the one we got last week that put this whole are at a complete standstill I am not too happy about another one.  Not like I don't like snow but the fact that O didn't have school all week made me not so happy.  O does not nap and hasn't for a long time now so while he is at school is my only break all day long and it was cancelled all week due to our big storm.  Being from New England we were out driving the day of the storm like there was no snow, it was no big deal really, but apparently down here it was a huge deal.  So now here we are getting another storm, did I mention we don't own a shovel and I just got the driveway clear after last weekend.  Yes I used a combo of a garden hoe and O's little snow shovel to clear our diveway, it was not pretty.  I am not bitter or anything, isn't the snow falling beautiful...

Play dough

This is a 3yo boy's version of play dough, mind you I just bough it yesterday and though it would be a great activity for us to do while the girls napped.  We started with 4 perfectly nice cans of red, white, tan and brown, that lasted a whole 2 minutes.

It was much more fun to combine it all and cut it into a million pieces. Then roll it back up again and figure what else to do with it.

And when the rolling pin wasn't quite working he figured out an amazing idea for flattening it.

Doesn't it just make perfect sense to lay on it with all your weight to flatten it, get it stuck to your shirt and then have to peel it off piece by piece.  For all of you that have little girls that do nice crafty projects this is what it is like to try to do something with a little boy.  Did he have fun, sure, but now we have 1 giant ball of play dough with a lot of shirt lint in it.  I think we'll stick to outdoor activities from now on.
