Our Guest

We have a guest at our house that comes Thanksgiving night and stays till Christmas, Elfie. You can read more about him here. We started this tradition last year when we thought O was old enough to understand and this year he gets even more excited to see him. The girls look for him 1st thing in the morning and scream with delight once they find him. At least for this brief time each year I really can tell O someone is watching him!

The new ride

O got an early Christmas gift from his Grammy and Papa, he loves it of course and the girls have fun too. It goes a little fast for my taste especially with one of the girls in the back but it doesn't seem to bother them. K would ride around all day and Fin is still a little skeptical, she's smart! Thanks Grammy and Papa for the new ride.

Fin still likes her old ride the best, she can be in control.

Giving Thanks

It was just the 5 of us for Thanksgiving, we wanted to just hang at home and not have to be so busy. We cooked an awesome brined turkey from Trader Joe's, stuffing, butternut squash, gravy and cranberry sauce.

We are thankful for so many things, that daddy was home to celebrate with us, that we have 3 healthy happy (most times) kids, that I am able to stay home with the kids, and for the general health of all those we love. We are also thankful for those that are serving our country and not able to be with their families to celebrate this holiday season.

O did a great job with his dinner and went straight for the pie, of cour

Jet Pilot

The night we went to pick up Kev from his trip O got to do some exploring at his work. He loves going to his dad's work, he would go everyday if he could.
He really likes jumbo jets but we won't tell anyone!

Jet Plane

Daddy is home and the kids couldn't be more excited. We went to pick him up last night and got to go meet him at his jet, it was LOUD but they had a blast. The girls were so cute running up to see their daddy!

All about safety

We are all about safety in this house, can't ya tell....

I think this is the 1st time
anyone has even worn a bike helmet and who cares if you're not even riding a bike, you still have to be safe while pushing a dump truck right?

Learning something new

I think it's unsaid rule of the military or something, whenever your husband is away things always go wrong. Kev has been in Vegas for 5wks now and I have been a very busy bee. Some of the thing i've had to do
take care of 3 kids very sick with the H1N1 virus
mow/rake yard twice
jump Volvo too many times to count
deal with flooding from the Nor'easter that hit us and loosing power
not to mention being a single mother of 3 kids under 3

I am very proud of myself for all I have done, this is the 1st time i've ever even started a mower to say the least. We are dying to have daddy back this weekend, I will be officially off-duty for a while.

This is one of my new favorite finds from Trader Joe's, it's like fall in a cup and especially good hot.

Painting

We have had some bad weather the past few days, a Nor'easter to be exact, and it's kept us all cooped up in the house. What do you do with 3 kids after being in the house for a few days??? Let them paint of course, well at least O, this is his version of painting: He starts out nice and neat with a q tip and progresses to both hands completely covered with paint and touches everything possible with those hands. He is very proud of his artwork!

K

Keira is our little spitfire, she is full of energy, always on the move and has to be doing what her brother is doing. She has been like this since she was in the womb, her heartbeat was always much faster than her sister's and every single ultrasound she was bullying Finley in some way. She was the first to crawl and walk and makes it known when she is around. She is not aggressive but just fast to get what she wants. She is a peanut weighing in at only 18lbs at 18mths but that doesn't stop her. She always has to be doing something she shouldn't be, something more dangerous than anyone else, she has no fear and usually never gets hurt. She has one true love in her life, her baby, which she would carry around everywhere if I let her (usually in her mouth). She sneaks upstairs whenever I'm not looking and runs into her room to find her baby and bring her down. I usually keep baby up in her room unless she really puts up a stink and I let her come down. Thank God we have 2 of them because she gets really dirty being dragged around everywhere. Our little peanut is going to give us a run for our money when she gets older!

Botanical Gardens

Nonnie and I took the kids to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens on sunday, it was a beautiful day and we wanted to get out to enjoy it. The kids had a blast and the girls walked all over the place for over 2hrs straight, a lot of walking for them. We played in a little potting shed, the girls did some housework, Fin found a fort to hide in, O found a teepee to build a fire in, and we found some really cool bugs. We had a blast and everyone came home very tired, just how I like it.

Halloween

So I have not been too good at keeping up with this blog, well some stuff got in the way. All 3 kids came down with the swine flu, not pretty. Of course Kev is gone so it was just me with 3 really sick kids, not fun. Anyway we made it through it largely unharmed and I will try to start updating.

Nonnie and Poppy came to visit us the day before Halloween, yay! That means a break for me and lots of fun for the kids. It was over 80 degrees on Halloween day, not so good for the kids in costumes.

O only made it to 1 house to Trick or Treat, he rang the doorbell, said trick or treat, was offered as much candy as he wanted and didn't want a single piece. He was red and sweaty after a few minutes and didn't really want to even wear his costume, we are not off to a good start. So we ended up just walking around the streets, not getting any candy and going home early. We live in an amazing Trick or Treating neighborhood so it was such a bummer, he's gonna wish we lived here when he's really into Halloween. I was secretly happy because then I didn't have to get rid of tons of candy, none of my kids need any extra sugar. Maybe next year he will have more confidence with his sisters, Keira will be a Trick or Treating maniac I can already tell.
